Around £30,000 per annum. Full time post.
Job Details:
To assist the work of diplomats in the Economic Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
Job Responsibilities
• Conducting short and long term research projects on various issues relating to international development, climate change, finance and economic issues.
• Producing both extensive reports and short briefings on trends, expectations and policy.
• Working with staff in DECC, DFID, HM Treasury, Cabinet Office and FCO as well as a number of think tanks on matters of interest to the UK and Korea.
• Drafting speeches.
• Organising delegations.
• Arranging and briefing Korean diplomats ahead of their attendance at conferences and high level meetings.
• Attending meetings and conferences hosted by FCO/DFID/DECC etc.
Core Competencies
• Knowledge of economics and UK government
• Minimum 2:1 degree and a Masters in a relevant subject
• Demonstrable administrative experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Clear spoken and written English
• Flexible and patient approach to work
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment is desirable
• Knowledge of the Korean language is not necessary to work in this post

Interviews will commence shortly after the closing date of 18 September.
Preferred start date for the successful applicant is 3 October 2011 although later start dates are possible.
